Lip blush, also known as lip micropigmentation, is a cosmetic tattoo that adds definition and colour to the lips. Unlike a traditional body tattoo that is permanent, lip blush tattoo involves lightly implanting colour pigments into lip skin that fades over time.
Who is Lip Blush for?
Lip blush is the perfect solution for anyone with lips lacking in colour and shape. Overtime lip colour diminishes, leaving lips dull and borderless. Lip blush creates the illusion of fuller, defined lips by restoring the shape and pigment lost to aging or thin lips.
What is Lip Blush?
Our Lip Blush Process
This is what happens during the treatment:
-
Your lips are cleansed at the start of your appointment to clean the area in preparation for your lip blush tattoo.

-
Together we will look at colour pigment swatches and decide on the best shade to create your desired look.

-
Lips are measured and mapped to assess the shape and create symmetry using your facial features.

-
Once you are happy with the shape the lip blush tattooing process begins. A specialist needling machine is used to gently implant the chosen colour under the skin. An outline of the lips is created first using a fine needle. The lips are then filled with colour and blended into the outline.

-
To aid any discomfort or swelling a cooling lip mask will be applied to keep you comfortable during the treatment.

-
At the end of the lip blush process, the area is cleaned and a healing balm is before showing you your beautiful lips.

-
A top up session is scheduled 6 weeks after your initial appointment, at this stage I will fill in any gaps where colour hasn’t taken.

During the 6 weeks, you will need to follow after-care instructions. Apply the healing balm provided and avoid scratching or picking at the area. You may feel a small amount of itching and irritation after your lip blush tattoo appointment, just as you would with any body tattoo. Rest assured this is completely normal.
Immediately after lip blush your lips are bold. Within the first two weeks, lip colour fades and begins to flake to reveal a lighter tint. The final shape and colour will emerge when lips are fully healed.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does lip blush hurt?
The treatment lasts about three hours with only a slight sensation of pain, far less than a body tattoo as numbing cream is applied to relieve any discomfort. However, what you’ll feel depends on individual pain tolerance. You can expect to feel some pressure on the skin during the treatment.
Is lip blush worth it?
Absolutely! Countless women feel Lip Blush is worth every penny. Although bold initially, Lip blush tattooing heals to a soft natural colour. Lips are shaped and fullness is created through applying colour to all lip skin, including areas that have lost pigment. The result? Lips are enhanced naturally without the need for injectables. Your lips will look natural and pigmented with no need to apply daily makeup. You will save time and money.
Is lip blush for dark lips?
Lip blush tattooing is an excellent solution for those wanting to achieve brighter, even-toned lips. Melanin rich lips will require a lip neutralisation, to correct any uneven colour before implanting your new shade.
Unfortunately, lip blush tattoo isn't suitable for all skin types. Book a consultation to find out your options.
Lip blush with fillers?
Many women consider lip blush and filler to be the ultimate lip duo, with fillers increasing lip volume and lip blush highlighting your new pout, both enhance the results of the other. Lips must be fully healed before your lip blushing appointment.
Lip blush and cold sores
Cold sore sufferers must contact their GP to obtain anti viral medication which will need to be taken before commencing Lip tattooing.
When does lip blush fade?
Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo that can last up to two years. Applying aftercare will increase the longevity of your lip blush enhancement..
